At Owingsville Christian Church We Believe the following as expressed in scripture:
We Believe the Bible is the fully inspired Word of God, without error and accurate in all things to which it speaks, and so is the supreme and final standard and authority for all matters of faith, opinion and conduct.
(Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31-32; John 20:31; Acts 20:32)
We Believe in one God, eternally existing in three equally divine persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16–17; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 3; John 4:24; John 10:30; John 14:9–10; Romans 1:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:5)
We Believe God is the creator of all things and that He created man in His own image, male and female.
(Genesis 1; Genesis 2:7, 21-22; Nehemiah 9:6; John 1:3; Acts 17:24–28; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11)
We Believe God calls us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our fellow man as we love ourselves.
(Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:30-31; Ephesians 1:4)
We Believe that Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, true God and true man, and that He is the Savior of the world.
(Colossians 2:9, John 3:16, John 1:1,14)
We Believe that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, believers receive new birth.
(John 3:1-8, 1 Peter 1:22-23)
We Believe that man’s sin places him under the just condemnation and wrath of God, making him lost and hopeless without Jesus Christ.
(Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7)
We Believe salvation from the just condemnation and wrath of God comes only by God’s grace through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
(Romans 1:18-32: Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 2:38; Romans 3:21-25)
We Believe that salvation is found in no one other than Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
(Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8–11; Ephesians 2:8–9; Acts 4:12)
We Believe God has appointed a day of final judgment to judge each person according to what he has done.
(Matthew 25:31; II Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-12)
We Believe in the universal Church, which is the living spiritual body of Christ, has Christ as its head, and consists of all people everywhere who have repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(I Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4-5,11-16; 5:25-32)
We Believe the Lord Jesus Christ established two ordinances, namely baptism and The Lord’s Supper, and that these ordinances must be honored and observed by the church.
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
We Believe that Christians are called with a holy calling, not to walk after the lusts of their sinful natures, but after the Holy Spirit, and so to live in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
(Romans 6; 8:1-17; Galatians 5:13-26)
We Believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of all believers to witness to the saving grace of faith in Jesus Christ and to exercise their spiritual gifts for the building up of His church.
(I Peter 3:15; I Corinthians 12:4-7; 14:12; Romans 12:3-8)
